Family OS India ("Family OS," "we," "us," or "our")

These Terms govern your use of the Family OS mobile application (listed on the Apple App Store as "Family OS India") and the website at getfamilyos.com. Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using Family OS, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who we are

Family OS is operated by Shankar Krishnamurthy, sole proprietor, trading as "Family OS," based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

2. Who can use Family OS

You must be at least 18 years old to create a Family OS account. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

You may add information about your family members — including children, pets, partners, and elders — to your account. You are responsible for the information you add about other people and for having the appropriate authority to do so.

The Apple App Store age rating of 13+ refers to content suitability. The 18+ requirement above is the contractual minimum for account creation.

4. Subscriptions, billing, and free trial

4.1 Plans and pricing

Family OS offers a subscription plan with two billing options:

Prices are in Indian Rupees and inclusive of applicable taxes. Apple may apply local currency conversions and additional taxes depending on your billing region; the price shown in the App Store at the time of purchase is the final price.

4.2 Free trial

New users receive a free trial period at signup, during which premium features are available without charge. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will begin automatically at the end of the trial and you will be charged the applicable subscription price.

4.3 Billing through Apple

All subscriptions are billed and managed through your Apple ID. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase and at the start of each billing period. You can view, manage, or cancel your subscription at any time from your Apple ID settings:

4.4 Auto-renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current paid period — you keep access until that point, after which the subscription becomes inactive and access to paid features ends.

4.5 Refunds

Because subscriptions are processed by Apple, refunds are handled by Apple, not by Family OS. You may request a refund through Apple's process at reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not have the ability to issue direct refunds.

In future, if Family OS launches on Google Play, billing and refunds for Android users will be handled by Google under their respective policies.

5. The Family AI feature — important to understand

Family OS is not a medical device. The Family AI feature is informational only. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional. Do not use Family OS to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Always consult your doctor for medical decisions.

Family AI answers questions by looking up your own logged data. Its outputs are based on patterns in what you've recorded and on general knowledge from its training. AI responses can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. You are responsible for verifying any information before acting on it.

In emergencies, contact local emergency services immediately. Family OS is not designed for emergency use.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you upload to Family OS (photos, logs, notes, etc.). By using the service, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

We do not claim any rights to your content beyond what is necessary to operate Family OS. We do not use your content to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data handling.

8. Service availability

We aim to keep Family OS available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, third-party outages (such as Supabase, Apple, or Anthropic), or events outside our control.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the service at any time. Material changes affecting paid subscribers will be communicated in advance where practical.

9. Intellectual property

The Family OS name, logo, design, software, and content (other than your own content) are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, or distribute them without permission.

10. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the results obtained from using the service will be accurate or reliable.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Family OS, its operator, and its service providers will not be liable for:

Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amounts you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Family OS and its operator from claims, damages, and expenses arising from your misuse of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

13. Termination

You may stop using Family OS and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service.

Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will continue to apply.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app and via email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
